Dining Out For Life® is an international event held in cities throughout the United States and Canada, but the impact of your contribution in Jacksonville stays here.

Local Event. Local Impact.

Funds raised through Dining Out For Life® Jacksonville support Northeast Florida AIDS Network (NFAN) and the Mary H. Lewis Food Pantry, which provides food assistance to individuals/families impacted by HIV in Northeast Florida’s five counties; Duval, Clay, St. John’s, Baker and Nassau. NFAN is proud to be the producer and beneficiary of Jacksonville’s 19th year celebrating Dining Out For Life®.

Support local restaurants and give back to your community!

Dining Out For Life® Jacksonville is a day-long fundraising event on Thursday, April 25, 2024, where we invite the community to join us for a meal in support of helping others in need in Northeast Florida. By dining out, take-out, or having a dinner delivered, Dining Out For Life® Jacksonville participating restaurants will donate 25% or more of your bill to help fund the NFAN Mary H. Lewis Food Pantry.

It’s that simple – Dine Out. Give Back.

An essential resource for those living with HIV, the Mary H. Lewis Food Pantry provided 22,500 meals to 575 individuals/families in 2023. NFAN has made the Mary H. Lewis Food Pantry available to anyone with HIV, regardless of where they receive other services.

The woman behind the pantry. Mary H. Lewis volunteered at NFAN in 1990, found a necessity, and began the food pantry. Mary contacted grocery stores and restaurants to collect as much food as possible and organized the pantry for HIV+ individuals to access. This was especially important at the time because HIV medications had strict instructions on when and how to take them, often with harsh side effects. Having food readily available was crucial.

Today, the self-funded Mary H. Lewis Food Pantry is more in demand than ever. Grocery store prices are increasing, especially in Duval County, which is currently at the highest in the state at 20.1%*. To ensure the pantry remains available to assist individuals/families in the Northeast Florida HIV Community, NFAN relies on generous support through partnerships, restaurants, and volunteers of the Dining Out For Life® event to raise funds to continue the vision of Mary H. Lewis.
